webTammi_Nicolaison_Scholarship_Photo.jpgTammi Nicolaison, an advanced student in Collision/Refinishing and Chassis Fabrication Technology at WyoTech, was awarded the Collision Repair Education Scholarship. The award is given to a student who demonstrates excellent classroom and shop performance and who shows clear leadership potential in the field of collision repair.

The scholarship was funded through a donation from ABRA AutoBody & Glass in association with the Collision Repair Education Foundation and the WyoTech Scholarship Foundation.

"One of my personal career goals involves owning my own body shop and restoring classis cars, " stated Nicolaison in her scholarship application essay. She credits her father with sparking her passion for cars early on and with fostering her desire to make a career out of that passion. "I plan to work in an established shop after I graduate and from there gain the experience I need to succeed on my own."

As Nicolaison finishes up her coursework at WyoTech's Laramie campus, she has clearly made a lasting impression on her instructors and classmates. "This kid is the real deal and has a very bright future ahead of her, "remarked Randy Svalina, one of WyoTech's Education Coordinators.

The Collision Repair Education Foundation supports philanthropic and collision repair education activities that promote and enhance career opportunities in the industry.

Addressing the Need, Scholarships for Technical Education

We often hear from students about the lack of scholarship opportunities available to them in their pursuit of a technical  career education.

"I am pursuing a career in Motorcycle Technology because there is nothing else I would rather do than work with motorcycles. I worked very hard in school to get good grades and achieve honors in hopes that I would be eligible for scholarships. I have a sister and twin brother, both of which are planning on attending college, so you can imagine money is very tight this year. Unfortunately, many local scholarships have been discontinued due to lack of funding and others will not support going into a technical field. Thank you for the award, I will not let the WyoTech Scholarship Foundation down!"

"The qualities that I posses that I think will make me successful at this career are the perseverance to get things fixed right and to pay close attention to details. My grandfather has old tractors that I have helped tear apart and put back together again. I have a feeling of great accomplishment when after putting everything back together it works. Sometimes it does take more than one time, but this is one of the things I hope to learn at WyoTech, the education to do it right the first time." quote from Cody Wexell
